NEVE DEKALIM, Gaza Strip - An Israeli soldier was wounded Wednesday by mortar fire in the southern Gaza Strip where thousands massed to protest against the government's planned pullout of troops and settlers, military sources said.
The soldier was lightly hurt near Neve Dekalim, part of the Gush Katif settlement bloc.
Two Israeli military helicopters circled overhead but the attack did not appear to ruffle thousands of Israelis demonstrating in solidarity with the 8,000 Jewish settlers set to be evacuated from Gaza later this year.
