LEFKOSA - Ferdi Sabit Soyer who founded the 20th government in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was born in Lefkosa in 1952.
Soyer who went to secondary school in Cyprus, later went to Turkey to study medicine in university. As he took part in political movements in that period, he gave up his education and returned to Cyprus. Soyer contributed significantly to foundation of Youth Federation of Turkish Cypriot Students (KOGEF) in Turkey and he was also its leader.
Soyer who later returned to Turkish Cypriot side continued to take part in various political movements. He worked as a member of Republican Turkish Party (CTP) for a long time. Soyer was recently the secretary general of CTP.
Soyer was the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy in DP-CTP coalition government founded in October 1993.
Soyer was elected as a deputy from Gazimagusa respectively in 1985, 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2005 elections.
Soyer is married with two children.
