WASHINGTON - The United States confirmed Tuesday that two Belgians held at its Guantanamo Bay war on terror detention camp in Cuba have been flown back to Belgium.
The Pentagon, which announced the move, provided few details except to say the two had been transferred "to the control of the Belgian government."
They were charged with belonging to a criminal organization and later released, Belgium's Belga news agency said.
They arrived by Belgian military C-130 transport aircraft at the Moelsbroek airbase on Monday, RTL-TVI reported.
RTL-TVI said Mesut Sen, a dual Belgian-Turkish national was arrested in Pakistan in December 2001, while Moroccan-Belgian dual national Moussa Zemmouri was captured in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar.
