KABUL - Two American and two Afghan soldiers were wounded when their patrol came under attack in restive southern Afghanistan, the US military said in a statement Monday.
The soldiers were injured in Deh Rawood district of Uruzgan province Sunday, the same day as a Romanian soldier was killed and another injured when their vehicle struck a mine in neighbouring Kandahar province.
The US and Afghan troops were evacuated to Kandahar airfield for treatment and one of the American soldiers may be taken to a US military medical facility in Germany for treatment, the statement said.
"None of the injuries was life threatening," it added.
The statement did not say who might have been behind the attacks, but incidents of a similar nature have in the past been blamed on the remnants of the ousted Taliban regime.
The Taliban, who were toppled by a US-led military campaign in late 2001, are still waging a guerrilla-style insurgency against US and pro-government targets concentrated in southern and southeastern Afghanistan.
