ISTANBUL - German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder will attend the First Turkish-German Economy Congress to be held in Turkish commercial hub of Istanbul between May 4th and 6th.
This congress will bring together 1,200 businessmen, 600 from Turkey and 600 from Germany, who have about 800 billion Euros of overall turnover.
Kemal Sahin, chairman of Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TD-IHK), and Rifat Hisarciklioglu, chairman of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), held a joint press conference to promote the congress today (Monday).
According to the information received, the congress will be attended by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
CEOs of leading German companies like Mercedes Benz, Metro AG, Deutsche Bank and Siemens will also participate in the congress in which investment and cooperation opportunities and recent developments in the market will be discussed.
Turkey's and Germany's products and market opportunities will be promoted on the first day of the congress which will last for three days. On the second day, five sectoral meetings including automotive and by-industry; investment and finance; food products; machinery, electronics and telecommunication; textile and clothing will be held.
Regional tours will be organized for the German investors on the third day of the congress. Representatives of automotive production and by-industry will be taken to (northwestern city of) Bursa, while a tour will be organized to (Black Sea city of) Duzce for investment opportunities in cities granted with incentives. On the other hand, some businessmen will be taken to (northwestern town of) Corlu to see the European Free Zone.
A total of 39 companies will display their products in the exhibition to be opened during the congress.
