Prince Charles Of Britain In Canakkale

CANAKKALE - Crown Prince Charles of Britain arrived in northern Turkish city of Canakkale on Sunday to attend a memorial service in Gelibolu marking the 90th anniversary of the Canakkale Battle.
Later, Prince Charles met Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a reception.
Prime Minister Erdogan and Prince Charles talked about Turkey's European Union (EU) membership process and Turkey's efforts to implement EU adjustment reforms.
Prince Charles also expressed his pleasure with visiting Turkey once again.
The reception was attended also by Prime Minister Helen Clark of New Zealand and Prime Minister John Howard of Australia.
Prince Charles will attend a dawn service marking the anniversary of the April 25th, 1915, World War I Gelibolu landings.
He is expected to give a reading and lay a wreath in memory of those killed.
The battle claimed the lives of an estimated 250,000 Turkish troops and 85,000 allied soldiers, mostly Australian and New Zealand soldiers, known as Anzacs.
