BAGHDAD - US soldiers detained four new suspects in connection with a Bulgarian civilian helicopter crash north of Baghdad that killed 11, the US military said on Sunday.
"In the last 24 hours, the number of captured terrorists suspected to have possible links to the shooting down of a civilian Mi-8 helicopter has increased to 10," said a statement.
No further details were available.
Six suspects were picked up Saturday in connection with Friday's crash north of Baghdad, following a tip-off, the US military said.
Six Americans, three Bulgarian crew and two Fijians were killed in the crash.
The Islamic Army in Iraq said it had shot down the helicopter, posting video footage on the Internet of what it said was the blazing wreckage of the aircraft and the corpses of the victims.
The downing was the deadliest since a US military helicopter crashed on January 26 killing 31 US troops.
Separately, 16 other suspected militants were apprehended by US forces, the statement said, including 11 believed to be members of a cell that planned bomb and mortar attacks.
