BAGHDAD - Iraqi Sunni MP Mishan Jabouri escaped injury when a suicide car bomber attacked his convoy north of Baghdad Sunday afternoon, wounding eight others, police said.
A suicide car bomber used a mini-bus to attack Jabouri's convoy around 3:00 pm (1100 GMT) in Maleh, a village near the oil refinery town of Baiji, 200 kilometres (130 miles) north of Baghdad, said Colonel Saad Nufus.
"The deputy Jabouri was unhurt," Nufus told AFP.
In a recent interview with AFP, the Sunni deputy said he wants to represent insurgents in the national assembly, which was elected on January 30.
Jabouri made his fortune under former president Saddam Hussein and claims to have helped US troops to secure the northern regional city of Mosul in April 2003.
