JERUSALEM - Arsonists set fire to Jerusalem's only gay bar on Sunday, causing minor damage, police said.
"The arsonists tried to burn the Shushan Bar but caused only minor damage," said a police spokesman, adding that an investigation into the attack had been opened.
The west Jerusalem bar belongs to a left-wing city councillor who is involved in organising a gay festival in the city, according to the website of Israeli daily Haaretz.
The Gay Pride festival is due to be held in August but has faced stiff opposition from religious leaders in the Holy City.
