TUZMEN: ''TURKEY'S TRADE VOLUME WITH 6 COUNTRIES ON SILK ROAD ROUTE INCREASED 100 PERCENT IN LAST TWO YEARS''
ANKARA - ''Turkey's foreign trade volume with 6 countries on Silk Road route increased 100 percent in the last two years. Our total investment to these countries exceeded 12 billion USD,'' said Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen.
A ceremony was held at Ankara Train Station on Sunday for departure of ''Silk Road Turkish Export Products Fair Train'' which was organized by State Railways Directorate General and Forum Fair under the coordination of Foreign Trade Undersecretariat.
Tuzmen said, ''Turkey's trade volume with its neighboring countries was not more than 3-5 percent in the past. However, today this amount increased to 30 percent. Export ratio to neighboring countries increased to 40 percent.''
''Silk Road Train will visit Iran, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Turkey's foreign trade volume with these countries increased 100 percent in the last two years. Our total investment amount to these countries today exceeded 12 billion USD,'' he added.
Meanwhile, Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said, ''there are 2 important projects worth of 5 billion USD during the ruling of our government. One of them is Marmara Tube Crossing project which will directly connect Silk Road to western Europe, and the second one is Istanbul-Ankara Speed Train project.''
''Silk Road Turkish Export Products Fair Train'' is the first fair train in the world. The train will visit 6 countries within 39 days and it will travel for 10,560 km.
