WASHINGTON - U.S. forces in Baghdad announced the capture Saturday of six men they believe are responsible for the shoot down of a civilian helicopter April 21.
Acting on a tip from an Iraqi civilian -- later confirmed by other Iraqis at the scene -- soldiers searched two houses said to be occupied by "terrorists," according t o U.S. Central Command. They captured three men in the first house and confiscated bomb-making material, and three men in the second house. All six are being detained.
The Thursday downing of a Bulgarian helicopter resulted in the deaths of 11 people, including six Americans from Blackwater Security Consulting, a private security and guard firm.
The incident was captured by the attackers on film. Also filmed was the close-range shooting-execution of one of the Bulgarian crew members who was apparently thrown uninjured from the helicopter as it exploded.
