LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Higher Election Council (YSK) has officially declared Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader and current prime minister Mehmet Ali Talat as TRNC's new president based on the results of the April 17th elections.
YSK officially declared Talat as the winner in the Official Gazette.
Below are the number of votes received and the percentages for each candidate:
-Cyprus Socialist Party (KSP) candidate Zehra Cengiz: 439 (0.44 percent)
-Democrat Party (DP) candidate Mustafa Arabacioglu: 13,302 (13.22 percent)
-New Party (YP) candidate Nuri Cevikel: 4816 (4.79 percent)
-CTP candidate Mehmet Ali Talat: 55,945 (55.59 percent)
-National Unity Party (UBP) candidate Dervis Eroglu: 22,874 (22.73 percent)
-Communal Liberation Party (TKP) candidate Huseyin Angolemli: 1054 (1.05 percent)
-Independent candidate Ayhan Kaymak: 168 (0.17)
-Independent candidate Arif Salih Kirdag: 309 (0.30 percent)
-Independent candidate Zeki Besiktepeli: 1725 (1.71 percent)
