ANKARA - Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, ''it is not certain whether newly-chosen Pope's previous statements (against Turkey's EU membership) would continue.''
Erdogan replied questions of reporters prior to his departure for Afghanistan on Wednesday.
When asked his assessment about statements of new Pope who said he was against Turkey's EU membership, Erdogan said, ''Pope previously made such statements. However, we do not know whether such statements would continue. Also decision mechanisms about EU process are different. Those statements were his personal views, but his future statements can be different.''
