ISTANBUL - Syrian Minister of Tourism Sadallah Agha al-Qalaa met Basaran Ulusoy, chairman of Turkish Travel Agencies Union (TURSAB), in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Al-Qalaa has been invited as an honorary guest to the MTE 2005 Mediterranean Tourism Fair in Turkish commercial hub of Istanbul between April 21st and 23rd.
During his meeting with representatives of travel agencies, al-Qalaa said, ''our duty is to help our two nations learn more about each other and increase tourism and enhance cooperation.''
Suggesting that the two countries could generate a common tourism product and market it in third countries, al-Qalaa said that they were open to every type of cooperation and wanted to see Turkish investors in their country.
On the other hand, Ulusoy asked al-Qalaa to help facilitation of border crossings, visa and customs procedures.
Noting that they decided to form Turkey-Syria-Jordan joint destination, Ulusoy said that Syria was an important tourism market and they would work to develop this market.
