ANKARA - Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Ali Coskun said on Tuesday that commercial relations between Turkey and Latvia had not reached the desired level yet.
A delegation of Latvian businessmen accompanying President Vaira Vike-Freiberga of Latvia during his state visit to Turkey, met Turkish businessmen at the Union of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) in Ankara.
During the meeting, TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu and Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Janis Leja signed a cooperation agreement.
Speaking at the meeting, Coskun said, ''commercial relations between Turkey and Latvia have not reached the desired level yet. This cooperation agreement between TOBB and Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will accelerate our relations.''
Meanwhile, Transportation Minister Ainars Slesers of Latvia said that they would start direct flights between Riga and Istanbul to consolidate the bilateral relations.
