ANKARA - Turkey was ranked 16th among world countries with its growth rate of 8.9 percent, on the basis of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2004.
In Europe, Turkey was ranked third after Ukraine and Belarus.
According to the ''World Economic Outlook'' released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in April of 2005, Equatorial Guinea was ranked first in the list with a GDP increase of 34.2 percent.
Meanwhile, IMF predicted that growth rate of Turkey would be 5 percent in 2005 and 2006.
