ANKARA - Turkish Justice Minister Cemil Cicek presented a draft amendment to the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday.
Erdogan met Cicek, Parliamentary Justice Commission Chairman Koksal Toptan, Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Group Chairman Sadullah Ergin, AKP Deputy Chairman Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat, bureaucrats and experts to discuss the amendment to the TCK.
Meanwhile, Cicek said that they would decide at the meeting whether to submit the amendment to the parliament as a draft or as a motion.
Turkish lawmakers reformed the 79-year-old TCK under Turkey`s EU adjustment process. The new TCK was scheduled to take effect on April 1st, but implementation of the new TCK was delayed to June 1st later.
