NEW YORK - The Turkish delegation headed by Treasury Undersecretary Ibrahim Canakci, attended a meeting hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in association with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Sources told the A.A on Tuesday that several round-table meetings were held under the meeting on ''Towards Achieving Internationally Agreed Development Goals, Including Those Contained in the Millennium Declaration''.
Turkish delegation attended three of those meetings on ''Policies and Strategies'', ''Trade, Investment and Private Capital'', and ''Official Development Assistance and New Tools for Finance of Development''.
ECOSOC is one of the principle organs of the United Nations dealing with problems of development and poverty around the world by issuing policy recommendations to the United Nations system and member states. It works with governments, NGOs and civil society to promote higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress; facilitate international cultural and educational cooperation; and encourage universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
