Adana Prosecutor's Office Releases Turkish Guantanamo Prisoner Uyar

ADANA - Prosecutor's Office in southern city of Adana released Turkish Guantanamo prisoner Salih Uyar on Tuesday.
Uyar was one of the three Turkish prisoners who were kept in US detention center for terror suspects in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba after US operation on Afghanistan.
Uyar, who went to Iran and then to Afghanistan via Pakistan, was arrested in Kabul by US forces in 2000 with suspect of ties to al-Qaeda. He spent more than three years in Guantanamo and then was handed over to officials of Adana Police Department in Incirlik Airbase.
After questioned by prosecutors, Uyar was released without filing criminal charges. He will be handed over to military authorities due to draft evasion.
There are two other Turkish detainees in Guantanamo who are Murat Kurnaz and Mesut Sen.
