13 people arrested and weapons seized at Amsterdam airport

THE HAGUE - Dutch police arrested 13 people and seized 16 weapons in a dragnet set up Monday at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, Dutch press agency ANP reported.
Between 6:00 am (0400 GMT) and midday, 125 policemen backed up by two anti-riot units searched 1,135 vehicles and 1,609 people.
Among the weapons confiscated were a rifle, three knives, two cans of mace and several handguns.
Such search operations are regularly conducted at Schiphol airport, one of Europe's busiest, authorities said.
