President Roh Of South Korea: Turkey Will Have A Brilliant Future

ISTANBUL - President Roh Moo-Hyun of South Korea, who is currently paying a state visit to Turkey, said on Saturday, ''South Korea has achieved success in its democracy and economy thanks to heroism of the Turkish soldiers during the Korean War.''
Speaking at Turkish-South Korean Business Council meeting in Istanbul, President Roh said that his visit aimed to develop economic performance of the two countries.
Pointing out that the friendly relations between Turkey and South Korea started during the Korean war 55 years ago, President Roh said that nearly 15 thousand Turkish soldiers were sent to Korea, some of them died, and more than 2 thousand others were injured.
Stressing that South Korean people would never forget heroism of Turkish soldiers, President Roh said that South Korea has achieved success in its democracy and economy thanks to heroism of the Turkish soldiers during the Korean War.
President Roh said that despite friendly relations between the two countries, trade and investments were not satisfactory.
Noting that there had been an importance imbalance in mutual trade volume between Turkey and South Korea, President Roh highlighted importance of Korean firms making investments in Turkey in order to remove the imbalance.
''I believe that Turkey will have a brilliant future,'' he added.
Turkish State Minister Besir Atalay was also in attendance at the meeting.
