ANKARA - President Roh Moo-Hyun of South Korea, who is currently in Turkey on a state visit, visited the Monument of Korea and met Turkish war veterans in Ankara on Saturday.
President Roh observed a minute of silence in memory of those who died in the Korean War.
Addressing Turkish war veterans at the ceremony, President Roh said, ''Turkish soldiers fought together with Korean soldiers in order to protect democracy and peace. Many Turkish soldiers died, many others were injured. We will never forget the heroism of Turkish soldiers. Turkish soldiers' sacrifice and efforts were not wasted. Today, South Korea is ranked 11th in the world economy. This is also your success.''
Following the ceremony, President Roh left Ankara for Istanbul to attend the Turkey-South Korea Business Council meeting.
