ANKARA - South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun, who is currently visiting Turkey, thanked Turkey for the support it gave by sending Turkish soldiers to South Korea on its difficult days 55 years ago.
Speaking in the joint press conference with Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Thursday, Roh said that they took up regional and international issues with President Sezer in a very useful meeting.
Referring to the Turkish soldiers who died in the Korean War, Roh said that Turkish soldiers were real heroes for South Korean people.
Noting that the bilateral relations developed rapidly, Roh said that the number of Korean tourists visiting Turkey and bilateral trade increased by two folds compared to last year. Roh stressed that the imbalance in trade should also be overcome, adding that 30 businessmen accompanied him during his visit to Turkey.
''Turkey is a very dynamic country, Turkish people is a nation which trusts itself very much and the future of Turkey is promising,'' he said. He added that there were very warm and close relations between the two peoples.
