ANKARA - A meeting as a part of regional initiative on Iraq will be held in Turkish metropolis of Istanbul between April 18th and 19th, sources said on Friday.
Sources noted that foreign ministers of Iraq's neighbors would meet in Istanbul as a part of the process launched to contribute to normalization of life in Iraq.
According to information received, foreign ministers of Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Jordan and Egypt will attend the meeting in which Turkey will be represented by FM Abdullah Gul.
The high-level officials meeting will be held on April 18th, and the eighth meeting of foreign ministers of Iraq's neighbors will take place on April 19th.
This meeting has particular importance since it will be the first one bringing together the concerned officials after the January 30th elections held in Iraq.
Earlier, Istanbul hosted one official meeting attended by representatives of Iraq's neighbors, and an unofficial one held as a part of the Conference of the Foreign Ministers of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
On the other hand, it was learned that Iraq would be represented by foreign minister Hosyar Zebari of the interim government.
Also, UN Special Representative for Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, OIC Secretary General Prof. Dr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, and representatives from Bahrain and the European Union (EU) are expected to attend the meeting.
