DAMASCUS - Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer has begun his official program in Syria.
An official welcoming ceremony took place in honor of President Sezer.
Later, President Sezer met President Bashar al-Asad of Syria.
Meanwhile, Syrian Prime Minister Naji al-Utri told Turkish journalists that they were pleased with hosting President Sezer in Syria.
Syria is the second country of President Sezer, Prime Minister Utri said, expressing his belief that the visit would have important impacts on bilateral relations between Turkey and Syria.
President Sezer's two-day state visit to Syria aimed at strengthening ties between the two neighbors.
