ANKARA - Algeria extended support to Turkey regarding Cyprus issue during Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul's visit to that country.
Sources said that UN Security Council member Algeria supported views of Turkish side in Cyprus issue solution process. Algerian President Abdel Aziz Boutefliqa said, ''we know Turkish party fulfills its responsibilities. We will do our best to protect rights of Turkish Cypriots.''
Algeria also reiterated its support to Turkey's membership to UN Security Council.
Boutefliqa noted that they wanted the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TICA) to open an office in Algeria within the scope of Turkey's policy of reaching African markets, adding that Turkey can reach Africa via Algeria.
Meanwhile, Algeria expressed wish to cooperate with NATO. Turkey supported extension of NATO's security chain to the region.
Two countries agreed that Turkey would provide training under cooperation in military area.
The process about Friendship and Cooperation Agreement and Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Algeria is expected to be completed until Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Algeria in September.
