US, British embassies reopen in Yemen

SANAA - The US and British embassies in Yemen reopened Monday after a two-day closure prompted by security concerns.
Diplomats at both embassies in Sanaa said the missions had resumed business after receiving instructions to reopen from their governments but declined to give more details.
A US diplomat said Sunday the embassy had "received information about general threats."
The embassy had closed on Saturday for what a diplomat initially called one-day "administrative work" after the US State Department authorized non-essential personnel and families of diplomats to leave Yemen.
Britain on Saturday also suspended operations at its mission after the Foreign Office in London cited a "credible" security threat in the country, which has witnessed a series of Al-Qaeda linked attacks in recent years.
