BRITISH REAL ESTATE AGENT IS THE NUMBER ONE TAX PAYER
HURRIYET- Sources in the Turkish city of Didim, Aydin said that British Clare Walker was last year's number one tax payer. Walker is married to a Turkish gentleman Nedret Tatlici. ''I give receipts to every customer. I earn good money. Of course, I have an obligation to pay my taxes,'' said Walker.
BUSH GETS SHOCKED BY GAY MARRIAGE
HURRIYET- A senior U.S. Republican Party official Arthur J. Finkelstein got married with a fellow gay in Massachusetts. Finkelstein is considered to be a very respectable consultant and strategist. Finkelstein served as advisor to Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and former Prime Minister Benjamin Nethanyahu. President George Bush and his party are a strong opponent of gay rights.
MILLIYET STARTS A CAMPAIGN TO SEND MORE GIRLS TO SCHOOL
MILLIYET- In a meeting of local administrators, NGOs and Milliyet newspaper at Istanbul's Dogan Center, the topic of female children was discussed. Governors and other representatives talked about the problems of female children. At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint declaration was made to support more female children to attend schools throughout Anatolia. A Milliyet source indicated that there will remain no Turkish girl who is not attending school.
ERDOGAN: ''I WILL BEG FOR MY PEOPLE''
MILLIYET- Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that he will beg for the welfare of the Turkish people. Erdogan made a call to all businessmen and businesswomen to contribute to the construction of new schools all across Anatolia. ''We must act quickly to erect more schools nationwide. I am begging for financial assistance from the business community of Turkey. I will continue to beg for the happiness of all Turkish citizens.''
THOUSANDS PROTEST U.S. OCCUPATION IN IRAQ
SABAH- Baghdad was the scene of a mass demonstration protesting the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Baghdad and chanted slogans, including ''no, no Saddam..no, no occupation.'' A religious leader Mukteda Sadr issued a message saying ''We hope that Americans will be treated by Allah the same manner the Americans are treating us Iraqis. We demand the withdrawal of all occupation forces.''
ARMENIAN TOPIC TO BE DISCUSSED IN THE TURKISH PARLIAMENT
SABAH- Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has indicated that the Armenian claims of a so-called genocide will be discussed in the Turkish parliament on April 13th. ''The Turks should have been more active and brave in dealing with Armenian fabrications in the past,'' said Gul.
ACADEMICIANS: ''DON'T LET DERVISH ORDERS DOMINATE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION''
CUMHURIYET- A group of Turkish academicians have stated that the society should not let dervish orders dominate religious education. In a conference organized at the Inonu University, professors made a joint declaration that the issue of religion should definitely not be used for personal interests and gains.
KIBAR SENT WITH APPLAUDS
CUMHURIYET- Turkish composer and musician Melih Kibar was laid to rest yesterday in Istanbul. Kibar was considered to be one of Anatolia's best musicians. Kibar passed away due to skin cancer.
POLITICAL OBSTACLE TO RECOVERY
RADIKAL- Marrow which has been searched for leukemia patient Emine Ozcan was found in Greek Cypriot side. However, as Turkish institutions cannot establish connection with Greek Cypriot side, necessary marrow cannot be brought to Turkey.

TURKIYE- There is someone who has become the tax record-holder for the last two years in western city of Mugla. He is neither a Turk nor a businessman. George Heinz, a German engineer at Yatagan Thermoelectric Power Plant, paid 44 billion Turkish liras tax last year only with his salary.
JOINT ATTITUDE FROM PARLIAMENT
TURKIYE- Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said that a general meeting will be held at Turkish Parliament for action plan against so-called Armenian genocide on April 13th.
4 USD OF LAND MINE TO BE CLEARED WITH 1,500 USD
ZAMAN- Upon softening of relations between Turkey and Syria, activities started to clear the land mines from fields at border region. Companies which applied to Finance Ministry to clear land mines want 1000-1,500 USD.
TERMINATOR GOVERNOR DUE IN ISTANBUL
ZAMAN- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who became famous with Terminator movies he shot, is expected to come to Istanbul to attend a conference on Hydrogen Energy in Turkey.
ERDOGAN: WE WILL SOLVE ANKARA DEADLOCK
YENI SAFAK- Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that they will not allow Ankara to pursue its structure which blocks Turkey. Erdogan added, ''the understanding in Ankara blocks the country. We are determined to work on problems of Turkey by solving mechanisms which do not function.''
