TOKYO - An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale shook southern Japan Sunday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake occurred at 8:34 pm (1134 GMT) with its focus 10 kilometers (six miles) below sea level off the coast of Fukuoka, some 850 kilometers (527 miles) south of Tokyo, the agency said.
There was no danger of tsunamis, it added.
