RAFAH, Gaza Strip - Gunmen joined several thousand Palestinians who called for revenge attacks inside Israel Sunday at the funerals for three youths shot dead by soldiers in the southern Gaza Strip.
"Revenge, revenge. We are coming to Jerusalem," cried some of the mourners for the three who were killed on Saturday along the border with Egypt in the first deadly incident in Gaza since militants groups agreed a de facto truce in January.
While Israeli authorities said the group were all in an authorised zone and had ignored warning shots, Palestinians said that they were only playing football.
Several hundred gunmen, representing all of the main Palestinian factions, were among the some 3,000 mourners who followed the coffins on their final journey from Rafah's refugee camp to the martyrs cemetery.
The coffins were all wrapped in Palestinian flags.
Militants fired dozens of mortars at Jewish settlements and army positions in Gaza after the death of the three youths. Various factions claimed responsibility.
