ANKARA - Turkey's Secretary General for EU Affairs Murat Sungar gave briefing to EU representatives working in Ankara about the recent developments in Turkey's EU accession process.
Sungar said that he had the opportunity to explain the implementations of Turkey regarding its EU bid at the meeting.
The Dutch Ambassador to Turkey Sjoerd Izaak Hendrik Gosses who talked in the name of EU Acting President Luxembourg, said that the meetings held at Turkey's EU Secretariat General like the Reform Watch Group's meetings, were important for seeing the steps made by Turkey. Gosses stressed that they would continue to work with Turkey's EU Secretariat for bringing Turkey closer to EU.
During the last week's meetings of Reform Watch Group (which monitors implementation of reforms by Turkey) issues like Real Estate Law (which the EU particularly concerned), the housing bill, the new military penal law, ombudsman, signing of the additional Protocol No. 13 to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), zero-tolerance to torture, women's rights, religious freedoms, and people who were forced to migrate were taken up.
