Gul: There Is No Change In Turkey's Policy On Aegean Problems

ANKARA - Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Friday that there is no change in Turkey's Aegean policy.
At a photo-exhibition when reporters reminded Gul the recent remarks of Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc (who said that the parliament decision taken in 1995 considering Greece's extending its territorial waters to 12 miles as 'casus belli', should be annulled) Gul said that the exploratory talks between Turkey and Greece continued to find a solution to Aegean problems.
''Turkey's policy about the Aegean problems are known and there is no change in that. We wish to solve the problems between the two countries in line with the interests of both countries, and the two countries launch positive efforts to this end,'' said Gul. Gul stressed that the remarks of Arinc should also be considered within the same framework and reiterated that Turkey wished the region to be a symbol of peace, stability and cooperation.
When reporters asked if there could be a new development between the two countries about Aegean problems during the visit of Greek Foreign Minister Petros Molyviatis to Ankara next week, Gul said that ''No, these are separate issues, but certainly the visit would further consolidate the friendship between the two countries.''
