ISTANBUL - Transportation & Communications Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri of the United Arab Emirates, who also acts as vice chairman of the Dubai Islamic Bank, said on Friday that they wanted to get information about Turkish banking market by opening a branch in Turkey.
In an interview with the A.A, Al-Mansouri said that they would develop a policy after getting information about Turkish banking sector through their representation in Istanbul. ''We may either purchase a bank or invest in the other sectors'', he said.
Meanwhile, Aref Kooheji, the vice chairman of the Dubai Islamic Bank for Investment said that they had provided Turkish companies with loans more than 1 billion U.S. dollars in the aggregate.
Kooheji said that they were interested especially in businesses such as telecommunications, finance, energy, chemistry and railways in Turkey.
The Dubai Islamic Bank opened a representation in Istanbul on April 6th this year.
