GAZIANTEP - Turkish and Syrian delegations meeting in southeast city of Gaziantep have decided to start new projects and cooperation and make use of funds from the Islamic Development Bank to support the upcoming projects.
Turkey was represented by the State Planning Organization (DPT) Undersecretary Ahmet Tiktik while the Syrian delegation was represented by Syrian State Planning Commission Chairman Abdullah Al Dardari. The delegations' meeting took place at the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce.
A joint communique was issued upon completion of talks.
''New opportunities will be explored between Aleppo, Gaziantep and Kilis. New measures will be taken to improve service at border gates between Turkey and Syria. Businessmen on both sides will be encouraged to conduct investments in the two countries. Cooperation among business groups will be given high priority. New offices will be established in Aleppo and Gaziantep to promote commercial activities. Technical assistance will be provided to businessmen and businesswomen in both countries. Human resources management in Turkey and Syria will make sure that only the most eligible individuals given priority in commercial relations. Tourism and related sectors will be supported by the two countries.''
