ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the new Turkish Penal Code (TCK) with Oktay Eksi, the Chairman of the Press Council, and representatives of several media organizations.
Tayfun Devecioglu, the editor-in-chief of Vatan daily; Vuslat Dogan, the chairwoman of the Executive Board of the Hurriyet daily; Ekrem Dumanli, the editor-in-chief of Zaman daily; and Turgut Kazan, a member of the High Board of Press Council; were the other participants of the meeting.
After the meeting, Eksi told reporters that they presented a report to Erdogan regarding their concerns about the new TCK.
Eksi said, ''I got the impression that amendments to the new Penal Code will be completed in April, and the draft will be voted in May.''
Eksi added that on behalf of the Press Council, Turgut Kazan and Mehmet Iplikcioglu would join the initiatives carried out by the Justice Ministry regarding the amendments to be made to the new Penal Code in the area of press.
