ANKARA - Petra Wernicke, Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Lower Saxony in Germany, met Turkish Environment & Forestry Minister Osman Pepe in Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Pepe said that Turkey wanted to make use of European Union (EU) funds to implement several projects on solution of environmental problems.
Pepe noted that five projects with high cost were related with construction of water refinement facilities, and stated that about 100 million Euros were needed for feasibility works of these projects.
Pointing out that a new Environment Law had been prepared to adjust to EU standards, Pepe said, ''this law increases punishments.''
On the other hand, Wernicke pledged to do everything they could to help Turkey adjust to the EU environmental criteria.
