John Paul II's first popemobile to go on display in Mexico

PUEBLA, Mexico - The archbishop of Puebla, Rosendo Huesca, said Wednesday he will put on display the first "popemobile" used by John Paul II outside the cathedral in the central Mexican city.
"Puebla, which welcomed John Paul II to the work on the third Latin American bishops' conference in 1979, has the first popemobile in history which will be dusted off and shown to the faithful" Sunday, he said.
The vehicle, designed after the failed attempt to assassinate the pontiff, was not armored.
Puebla church officials are weighing the idea of opening this year a museum grouping about 50 religious articles used by Karol Wojtyla on the first of his five visits to Mexico, in 1979.
