Baykal to thank Denktas personally

Leader of the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Deniz Baykal, will travel to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Thursday to thank President Rauf Denktas personally for his endeavors to keep the TRNC a free and independent country, before his final term as TRNC president comes to an end at the end of this month.
Baykal added that the EU had made a grave mistake accepting Greek Cyprus before there had been a resolution between the North and South. Stating that it would not help bring peace to the island. "This won't serve the cause of peace"
