US soldier killed, another wounded in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD - A US soldier was shot dead and another wounded Saturday in Tal Afar, west of the main northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the US military said Monday.
"One Task Force Freedom soldier was killed, and another was injured by insurgent small arms fire in Tal Afar Saturday," the military said.
The death brings to 1,530 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion two years ago, according to a tally based on Pentagon figures.
