ERDOGAN: ``THERE IS LEAK OF INFORMATION FROM SECURITY DEPARTMENT``
HURRIYET- Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, ``politics have entered within the Security Department. There is leak of information.``
When asked, ``order is gradually deteriorating in the country. There is a security problem. Theft and snatch and run crimes increase. Does the government have serious projects on the issue,`` Erdogan said, ``the incidents stem from poverty. Success have been recorded recently with the operations. Operations continue but there is a fact which is migration.``
``There is leak of information. For example we learn many things from media before the Security Department gets that information,`` Erdogan said.
TALAT: DENKTAS STILL BELIEVES I AM TREACHEROUS
HURRIYET- Mehmet Ali Talat, the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), replying to the claims that ``he will sell Cyprus,`` said, ``Cyprus is my motherland. How will I sell it? Even if Turkey sells it, I will oppose.``
Talat said, ``I don`t have any personal problem with TRNC President Rauf Denktas.``
AKAYEV WANTS TO VISIT TURKEY
MILLIYET- Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said that ousted Kyrgyz leader Askhar Akayev wants to come to Turkey. Gul briefed members of Justice and Development Party (AKP) about foreign policy. Touching on recent developments in Kyrgyzstan, Gul said, ``Turkey is respected very much in foreign countries. Several leaders, who preferred big countries in the past, now want to come to Turkey. One of them is Akayev. He may prefer to live in Turkey.`` Gul did not give details whether there is a formal application from Akayev.
MERCAN: WE DON`T DO EVERYTHING U.S. ASKS FOR
MILLIYET- Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy leader Murat Mercan said, ``if the United States wants to repair its image in Turkey, it should make gestures.`` Mercan added, ``a new gate to Iraq should be opened. The United States should fight against PKK terrorist organization actively. It should lift up isolation over Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).``
``ASKAR AKAYEV WANTS TO COME TO TURKEY``
SABAH- Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who gave information about the political developments at Justice and Development Party (AKP) camp in Kizilcahamam district, stated that ousted leader of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev wanted to live in Turkey.
Stating that very important political and economic steps were taken, Gul said, ``in the past, presidents preferred western countries to live. Now that Akayev, currently in Russia, may prefer Turkey.`` However, Gul refrained from giving detailed information about the initiative of Akayev.
EVEN A LEAF NOT STIRS IN ECONOMY
SABAH- Crisis, which the government said they overcame, continues in the markets.
There is a still demand drop in many sectors extending from foodstuff to furniture. Even a leaf does not stir in domestic market.
GATES TO BE OPENED TO REFUGEES
SABAH- According to an action plan presented to the Council of Ministers, Turkey will accept refugees from the Middle East and Africa starting as of 2012 upon the request of the European Union.
GIRLS GO TO SCHOOL
RADIKAL- National Education Ministry tries to find solutions to problems of education with various projects. The Ministry, with two campaigns it started two years ago to encourage parents to send their girls to school, recorded a great progress. A total of 113,000 girls in 53 cities enrolled to schools.
GREEK SHIP LEAVES GUIDE, COLLIDES WITH PANAMANIAN SHIP
RADIKAL- Greek flagged Aegean Wind left its guide and collided with Panamanian flagged MSC Roberta at Canakkale Strait yesterday. Three crew members died.
IF THERE IS NO SOLUTION, THEN THERE IS NO RECOGNITION
TURKIYE- Turkey signed Customs Union Additional Protocol with the condition that ``we sign, but we don`t recognize Greek Cypriots and we don`t open our ports to them.`` First response from the EU was given by EU representative in Cyprus Adrian van der Meer. He said, ``during Turkey-EU Partnership Council meeting on April 24th, Turkey may be warned to open its ports to vessels of Greek Cypriots.`` Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul denied news reports claiming that he said Taiwan model will be appropriate for Cyprus. Gul said, ``only model is solution.``
IMF TO ARRIVE IN TURKEY FOR LAST STAND-BY
TURKIYE- International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation will come to Turkey today for the draft letter of intent which was completed in December. The meetings with IMF for the last stand-by deal will be on technical level. Sides will update figures in the draft text.
BAYKAL DUE TO TRNC FOR DENKTAS
ZAMAN- Republican People`s Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal will go to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to thank TRNC President Rauf Denktas. Baykal will pay his visit on April 7th. He said, ``big countries which want peace should support TRNC.`` Baykal will thank Denktas for his efforts to introduce TRNC as a free and independent state.
DENKTAS WANTS CONCRETE SUPPORT FROM OIC
ZAMAN- Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister Serdar Denktas met Organization for the Islamic Conference (OIC) Secretary General Ekmelleddin Ihsanoglu in Jeddah. It was the first visit of an administrator from TRNC to OIC. Denktas said that TRNC expects support of all Islamic countries and OIC for lifting of isolation over the country as well as support in direct transportation, trade, tourism, culture, investment and sports.
RUSSIAN-FINNISH FIGHT FOR TURKCELL
YENI SAFAK- Following the offer of Finnish-Swedish joint venture Sonera to buy Turkcell for 3.1 billion USD, Russian Alfa Group entered with a higher offer.
Cukurova Group earlier agreed to sell its majority shares in Turkcell to Sonera.
However, this time Russian Alfa Group made a statement and said, ``I am ready to give money to Turkcell more than Sonera Holding.``
REPLY FOR INCIRLIK WILL NOT BE DELAYED
YENI SAFAK- Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, replying to a question on the Incirlik air base, said the government will shortly answer the request of the United States on this matter.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara`s Esenboga Airport prior to his departure for Jeddah within the scope of ``Gulf tour``, Gul said he would meet the OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and later proceed to United Arab Emirates and visit Abu Dhabi and Dubai emirates.
Gul stressed that his visit to Jeddah will affirm Turkey`s support to the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC).
According to Gul, the OIC is the second largest organization in the world after the United Nations. The OIC has 57 members and represent 1.5 billion individuals.
Gul said he would open 2nd Turkish Machinery and Equipment Fair in Jeddah.
