PARIS - Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries` ministers of labor discussed measures to strengthen social policies in a meeting in Paris on Friday.
Turkish Labor & Social Security Minister Murat Basesgioglu represented Turkey in the meeting in which social security policies were discussed and new policies were determined. Decentralization and the role of NGOs in society was evaluated in the meeting. In the last session of the meeting, measures needed to be taken to fight against poverty were also evaluated.
The ministers have also reached consensus on the need of strong economies for effective implementation of social policies. The attendees also stressed that the principle of protection of families and children was one of the most important targets of social policies.
