Erdogan: Mentioning Early Elections Means Treason

ISTANBUL - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that mentioning early elections now meant treason to the country.
Responding to questions of journalists asking if the positive developments in economy could be harmed due to early elections, Erdogan said that ''using the expression of early election now means treason to this country. The most important thing for stability in economy is trust and stability...In periods when there were multi-party coalitions in power, Turkey could not develop well. The country recorded progress when one-party came to power. There is no meaning in bringing onto agenda early elections when there is stability and trust in the country and when there is no need for early elections. Early elections can not be in question.''
Stressing that his party came to power for five years and a government which has 65 percent of the seats in the parliament was in power, Erdogan said asking for early elections now meant treason.
