ISTANBUL - Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan left on Thursday for Spain to attend the spring meeting of the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
Before he flew to Spanish capital of Madrid, Babacan told reporters that he would make the opening speech of the meeting to be held under the auspices of King Juan Carlos of Spain.
Babacan said that increasing market finance, regulation in finance markets, purchase, merger and global economy would be discussed in the meeting.
Touching on the growth rate announced earlier today, Babacan said, ''we have recorded a growth rate of 9.9 percent in Gross National Product (GNP), and 8.9 percent in Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This growth rate of 9.9 percent is the biggest growth rate recorded since 1966. This growth is robust, sustainable and a growth rate recorded under the leadership of the private sector.''
Babacan added that the national income per capita was calculated as 4,172 USD per capita.
