Up to 2,000 soldiers join Iraqi army in Khout

BAGHDAD- Up to 2,000 additional soldiers have joined the Iraqi Army in Khout province south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad where violence and armed confrontations have flared up between the security forces and insurgents.
An Iraqi Army source affirmed Wednesday that 2,000 soldiers have joined the Iraqi forces to maintain law and order in the province.
The source, who requested anonymity, said that the first division will be responsible of maintain security between the center of the province and Al-Aziziyah and the second division will be responsible of the security conditions in the eastern part of the province, near the Iraqi-Iranian borders.
The Iraqi army arrested two days ago 85 insurgents and killed several others in Khout, where also a large amount of weapons and explosives were confiscated.
