Syria demands release of two nationals detained in Iraq

DAMASCUS- Syria on Wednesday demanded the immediate release of two nationals detained by Iraq on charges of belonging to the Syrian intelligence.
The state-run Syrian News Agency (SANA) said that the Syrian Interest Office in Baghdad, based on instructions by the Foreign Ministry, filed an official protest to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry on the "unfounded" allegations aired by the government-sponsored Iraqi Satellite Channel on confessions by Syrian nationals Ahmad Al-Farra and Mahmoud Al-Rammah.
SANA said that Al-Farra and Al-Rammah were coerced into introducing themselves as Syrian intelligence officers, while in fact, they work in the leather industry, adding that both men are unqualified either educationally or healthwise to carry out the tasks alleged by the Iraqi report.
