ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that it was observed that the situation in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek has been normalized noting that the decision to send a second plane to Bishkek to evacuate Turkish citizens in the region was suspended at this stage.
The ministry statement said security forces Saturday morning again started patrolling, noting that incidents have been taken under control to a great extend.
The statement said Metin Goker, the first Turkish Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, who traveled to Bishkek on Friday, met new Kyrgyz foreign minister Roza Otunbayeva and other officials. Goker is planned to meet Turkish businessmen and Turkish citizens in Bishkek on Sunday.
The statement recalled that the plane which the MFA sent to Kyrgyzstan to evacuate Turkish citizens living in this country following the recent uprising which lead to the overthrow of President Askar Akayev, returned to Istanbul early on Saturday.
The statement said social order, which was disrupted in Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan in the past two days has started to be normalized, noting that police started to take the city under control in Bishkek.
The statement said Prof. Seyfullah Cevik, the Turkish-Manas University acting Rector, said they thought of resuming education on Monday.
''To this end, the decision to send a second plane to the region was suspended at this stage,'' the statement said and noted that it has been learned that Bishkek scheduled flights of the Turkish Airlines (THY) would re-start.
''Although ordinary crimes are committed throughout Kyrgyzstan, there is not any mass action against the Turkish citizens. It is obvious that business places belonging to Kyrgyz and other foreigners as well as the Turkish investments were damaged during plundering incidents in Bishkek,'' the statement said.
