Thousands Of People Gather In Diyarbakir To Protest The Attempt To Burn Turkish Flag

DIYARBAKIR - Thousands of people gathered in a public meeting held in southeastern Diyarbakir province on Friday to protest the attempt to burn the Turkish flag at Nevruz celebrations in Mersin.
People both from Diyarbakir city center and also from neighboring villages gathered and marched with Turkish flags in their hands at Dagkapi Square to protest and denounce last week's attempt to burn the Turkish flag.
Addressing the public meeting, Ahmet Buyukburc, the Chairman of the Human Rights Assistance and Solidarity with Martyr's Families, said that they cursed the attack on the Turkish flag. ''People can't stay silent to such attempts. The nation will always protect the honor of the Turkish flag,'' he shouted.
After the speech, citizens marched to the Monument Park and laid a wreath there while shouting slogans to curse the terrorist organization telling ''Martyrs will never die, the country will not be divided'' and ''Damn Terrorists.''
