ALGIERS - The 17th ordinary Arab summit closed Wednesday afternoon in the Algerian capital by reactivating a peace plan with Israel and creating a pan-Arab parliament.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa read the "Algiers Declaration" in which the Arab leaders underscored "the need to reactivate the Arab initiative endorsed by the 2002 Beirut summit and commitment to international legitimacy and the Madrid Declaration based on the principles of land-for-peace".
Mussa also announced the creation of a pan-Arab parliament for the 22-member Arab League and said the next summit will be held next year in Khartoum.
Arab leaders, leaving behind senior delegates, then left the conference hall after embracing Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika who hosted the summit.
