DOHA - A European man was killed and 12 people were injured when a car bomb went off outside a theater near a British school in the Qatari capital Doha Saturday evening, an interior ministry spokesman told Al-Jazeera TV.
Brigadier Ahmad al-Hayki did not give the nationality of the dead person beyond saying he was European. He earlier said those wounded included one British national while the rest were Qataris, Arabs and Asians.
Asked if the dead man might be British given the location of the blast, Hayki said: "We don`t rule this out, but it is not certain."
Both Hayki and a statement issued by the interior ministry to the official QNA news agency said 10 of the wounded had been discharged from hospital.
