ANKARA - ''The report of the non-governmental organization named Human Rights Watch, based in New York, entitled 'Still Critical: Prospects in 2005 for Internally Displaced Kurds in Turkey' is away from being realistic'', Turkish Foreign Ministry stated on Monday.
The Ministry said that this report was ignoring ongoing good-willed efforts of Turkey to enable citizens who were displaced in 1990s due to terrorism, to return to their homes.
''Although Turkey has briefed the Human Rights Watch on initiatives to help displaced citizens to return to their homes, this report try to present our national issue as an international problem,'' the Ministry noted.
The Ministry said that Turkey was cooperating with some international organizations particularly the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) regarding the matter, and trying to establish international standards.
Recalling that ''Ankara's Hacettepe University had launched a comprehensive research regarding this matter and taking into consideration UN's views and proposals'', the Ministry said that ''this project was attached importance since it could shed light on dimensions and solution of this issue''.
The Ministry said that also, another ''project was planned to be carried out jointly with the UN Development Program'', and added, ''our government is decided to maintain its good-willed efforts aiming at finding satisfying and lasting remedies to problems of our displaced citizens in cooperation with international organizations.''
